Sumitomo Dainippon Pharma Provides Material Assistance to Ukraine

Sumitomo Dainippon Pharma Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Osaka, Japan; Representative Director, President and CEO: Hiroshi Nomura) made an announcement today regarding provision of humanitarian aid to Ukraine. Based on a list of medicines with concern for shortages provided by Medicines for Europe, we have decided to donate a total of 3.5 million tablets of the antiepileptic agent "EXCEGRAN® tablet 100 mg" (brand name in Japan, generic name: zonisamide).
Sumitomo Dainippon Pharma will coordinate with the Embassy of Ukraine in Japan and others regarding the method of delivery.

Sumitomo Dainippon Pharma is also considering donating meropenem hydrate (generic name, brand name in Japan: "MEROPEN®"), a carbapenem antibiotic preparation, since meropenem hydrate is included in the Ministry of Health of Ukraine's list of medicines for which material assistance is required. A decision on the donation of meropenem hydrate will be confirmed once the logistics feasibility and other details become clear, based on local needs.

The safety of people in Ukraine and the surrounding region is affected and they are amid in challenging time. We hope that this situation will be recovered as early as possible so that people can live in peace and safety.
