Dainippon Sumitomo Pharma Group Contributes to Earthquake Relief Efforts in Japan

Dainippon Sumitomo Pharma Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Osaka, Japan; President: Masayo Tada; hereinafter called "DSP") expresses its deepest sympathy for victims of the earthquake that struck the Tohoku region in Japan on March 11 2011, and our thoughts are with those personally affected by the tragedy.

DSP already announced that the Company will make a donation of JPY 100 million through the Japanese Red Cross and of pharmaceutical products to aid relief efforts for victims of the earthquake on March 15. Regarding donation of pharmaceutical products, DSP decided to provide hand disinfectant products, Hibisoft® and Hibiscrub®, and also provide antiepileptics in response to a request from the Japan Epilepsy Society.

With regard to DSP's subsidiaries, in addition to a donation of JPY 10 million by DSP GOKYO FOOD & CHEMICAL Co., Ltd. and JPY 5 million by DS Pharma Animal Health Co., Ltd., as announced on March 15, a US subsidiary, Sunovion Pharmaceuticals Inc. will donate USD 100,000. Furthermore, a subsidiary in China, a voluntary donation will be made by its employees. Domestic subsidiaries are also planning as much support as possible including voluntary cash donations by employees and contributing pharmaceutical and diagnostic products.
