Sumitomo Dainippon Pharma Announces Organizational Realignment, and Changes in Executive Officers and Other Key Positions

Sumitomo Dainippon Pharma Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Osaka, Japan; President: Masayo Tada) today announced that the following organizational realignment and changes in Executive Officers and other key positions will take place as of the respective dates shown below:

I. Organizational Realignment (effective December 1, 2014)

Corporate Departments

"Global Corporate Management" and "Global Strategy and Business Development" are realigned to "Global Corporate Planning" and "Global Business Development."

Drug Research (Division)

"External Innovation Development Office" is created.

Purposes of the creation of Global Business Development Department and External Innovation Development Office:
The Global Business Development Department and the External Innovation Development Office are created for the purposes of promoting and strengthening in-licensing and cooperation for future growth of our Company, in parallel to the drug discovery activities of our own.
The Global Business Development Department will have the global responsibility for M&A's, in- and out-licensing and cooperation in the field of the pharmaceuticals businesses of Sumitomo Dainippon Pharma Group. The newly-created department will encompass Sumitomo Dainippon Pharma in Japan and Sunovion Pharmaceuticals, a subsidiary in the U.S., in a seamless manner. The head of Global Business Development will be based in the U.S.
The External Innovations Development Office will coordinate the Company's activities in the information gathering and evaluation of candidate pharmaceuticals and cutting-edge technologies and promote in-licensing and cooperation opportunities in early stages of clinical studies.
