Dainippon Sumitomo Pharma Announces Change of the Company’s English trade name and Partial Amendments to Its Articles of Incorporation

Osaka, Japan, May 21, 2014 - Dainippon Sumitomo Pharma Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Osaka, Japan; President: Masayo Tada; Securities Codes: 4506, First Section of TSE) announced today that it has decided by a written resolution pursuant to the provisions of Article 370 of the Companies Act of Japan to add to the agenda of the 194th Annual Shareholders’ Meeting scheduled for June 19, 2014 the following proposed change of the Company’s English trade name and proposed partial amendment to its articles of incorporation.

1.Change of the Company’s English trade name
(1) Reasons for the change
In order to prepare for the global development of the business of the Company, the Company will change its English trade name.
(2) English trade name
Sumitomo Dainippon Pharma Co., Ltd.
(Current English trade name: Dainippon Sumitomo Pharma Co., Ltd.)

2.The amendment to the partial Articles of Incorporation
(1) Reasons for the amendments
1) In order to prepare for the global development of the business of the Company, the Company will change its English trade name.
2) In order to prepare for the future development of the business of the Company, the Company will add to and delete from the purposes of its business.
