Dainippon Sumitomo Pharma to Have Two Head Offices

Osaka, Japan, July 1, 2013 - Dainippon Sumitomo Pharma Co., Ltd. ("DSP"; President: Masayo Tada) announces that, effective today, it has renamed its Tokyo Office "Tokyo Head Office", adopting an Osaka/Tokyo twin head office structure.

In a move to promote strategic global expansion efficiently, DSP consolidated many of its global strategy functions into Tokyo Office in April 2012. In line with one of the key elements of the Third Mid-Term Business Plan that commenced last April to "Establish a robust business management structure that can respond flexibly to changes in the business environment," DSP implemented further consolidation of global strategy-related functions of the Head Office, Drug Development Division and others to Tokyo this month.

The resulting increase in the head office functions performed in Tokyo has warranted the adoption of an Osaka/Tokyo twin head office structure of DSP.

We are convinced that the shift to the twin head office structure will help DSP pursue greater efficiency in decision-making processes, speeding up the execution of business and strengthening the ability to gather information while ensuring greater management efficiency and an organizational structure that is more befitting to our commitment to further globalization of our operations.
