Functional analysis of adrenocorticotropic-hormone–producing pituitary cells derived from human pluripotent stem cells in murine and primate models of hypopituitarism

Sumitomo Pharma Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Osaka, Japan; Representative Director, President and CEO: Toru Kimura) announced that RACTHERA Co., Ltd., the Nagoya University Graduate School of Medicine and others have reported that transplantation of human pluripotent stem cell (hPSC)-derived pituitary-hypothalamic organoids into subcutaneous tissue restored hormone production in animal models of hypopituitarism (mice and a cynomolgus macaque).

This represents the world's first report demonstrating the efficacy of pituitary-hypothalamic organoid transplantation in a non-human primate model. Please refer to the attached material for further details.
