【Sumitomo Pharma Conducts Lessons on Bioethics_2023 (1) at Higashiotsu High School and Aoyama Gakuin High School 】

In June, Sumitomo Pharma conducted lessons taught alongside teachers according to its original program about genome analysis and heredity at Shiga Prefectural Higashiotsu High School and Aoyama Gakuin Senior High School. In these lessons, students consider how they would make decisions on issues that lie ahead in the development of science and technology.
The following are comments from some of the students who participated: "I noticed that the world of science is more involved in our daily lives than I thought," and "I was able to feel that it is very important to find new perspectives through discussions." Thus, the company felt that the students who participated were able to think of the content of the lessons as their own problem and learn deeply from the dialogue through this program.
As part of its social contribution activities, Sumitomo Pharma is engaged in activities to support the development of the next generation through the utilization of its experience in creating pharmaceuticals. As one of these activities, the company has since fiscal 2012 been focusing on lessons conducted at junior high and high schools in which its employees serve as lecturers.
