Under the Slogan of "Innovation today, healthier tomorrows," Sumitomo Pharma engages in social contribution activities with the aim of "Allowing all patients and their families to lead healthy, fulfilled lives."

From August 23 to 25, 2024, Certified NPO "The Support Network for NANBYO Children of Japan" organized a summer camp called "Ganbare Kyowakoku" at "Ikoi nomura-Harima" in Kasai City, Hyogo Prefecture, Japan. Three of our employees participated as volunteer staff.

It is extremely challenging for families with children requiring medical care to go on overnight trips. However, "Ganbare Kyowakoku" is a camp where children requiring medical care are continuously supported by dedicated volunteer medical staff, while other volunteer staff members engage in activities with their healthy siblings, providing a camp experience where both parents and children can participate with peace of mind.

During the camp, the participants enjoyed outdoor experiences such as riding in hot air balloons, playing in the pool, and indoor activities like musical experiences, boccia game, tea ceremonies, and Awa Odori Dancing. We believe that not only the children requiring medical care, but also their siblings, families, and volunteer staff, were all able to make many friends and create wonderful memories.

One of the participating employees commented, "I was deeply moved by the affection of families who strive to entertain children who usually cannot play outside. The determination of the medical staff and the dedication of the volunteer staff were also impressive. This experience has made me reflect on what we can do to help."

Under its Mission "To broadly contribute to society through value creation based on innovative research and development activities for the betterment of healthcare and fuller lives of people worldwide", Sumitomo pharma Group is striving to deliver innovative products and healthcare solutions to society, with "Patient First" positioned as one of its Values.

Through this activity, we were able to connect with the thoughts of patients, their families, and the medical volunteer staff, which provided a valuable opportunity to deeply reflect on what we can do for "the betterment of healthcare and fuller lives of people worldwide" and to reaffirm our commitment to "Patient First".
